Tee box markers were in play

On the number 3 tee box at Hickam AFB’s Mamala Bay Golf Course on January 6,2012, Bob Shohan performed a shot never seen before by Grand Cru Golf Club members. His tee shot hit the ladies’ tee marker and ricocheted with a very high trajectory and in the opposite direction. The ball finally landed in Mamala Bay, behind the tee box.

Later in the same round on number 13 tee box Mark Monoscalco hit his driver but with his follow through he also hit the tee marker with the club head. The clanging noise that was produced left Mark’s ears ringing for several minutes. Theoretically the ball flight could have been unaffected by this accident but this time the ball was imparted with a severe hook and landed in the lateral water hazard.
