A rules subcommittee held a meeting on 1/18/11 after an official round of play at Pearl Country Club. The following rule revision was unanimously passed by the four members present:
Allocation of handicap strokes:
Divide the players course handicap by 2 to obtain the number of strokes allocated to each nine hole score.
When a player’s course handicap is an odd number allocate a half a stroke to the front nine score and a half a stroke to the back nine score. , round up the handicap on the front nine and round down the handicap on the back nine.
For example if the player’s course handicap is 23 then the player will have 11.5 strokes for the front nine and 11.5 strokes for the back nine. 12 strokes allocated to the front nine and 11 strokes allocated to the back nine.
This method of allocation will remove the arbitrary rule now in effect that allocates one extra stroke to the front nine for a player with an odd number course handicap.
The following rule clarification was unanimously passed by the four members present:
An official round will require the play of at least 3 members of the Grand Cru Golf Club.
